Treadmills - Motor horsepower

What is motor horsepower?

Motor horsepower (hp) is the imperial unit of power for an electric motor. During testing, the calculated motor hp can vary depending on test conditions and duration. This leads to a wide variation in plausible horsepower ratings which do not directly reflect the actual quality and longevity of the motor.

For RFE, quality is paramount.

To ensure product quality and consumer-safe products, all materials and product samples must pass a rigid compliance process. Every product is tested in accordance with standardised material and product testing specifications and procedures.

Our treadmills have undergone a rigorous testing programme which includes verifying the high build quality of the motor. As a result, all treadmills are supported by a 10 year motor guarantee.

There are three power ratings applicable to our treadmills:

Continuous usage (CHP) - being a constant load over an extended period of time, e.g. 1.5hp.
Peak usage / Peak horsepower (PHP) - being the maximum load over a short period of time, e.g. 3.5hp.
80% Peak Usage (80% PHP) - being the load measurement for a motor of high build quality, e.g. 2.75PHP.
